PTSD involves struggles with flashbacks, memory ga PTSD involves struggles with flashbacks, memory gaps, self-blame, and a mind that turns against you. It can mean forgetting crucial parts of what happened, believing you’re permanently broken, or feeling like joy is no longer accessible.

Other cognitive symptoms might involve losing interest in things you once loved, feeling numb around people you care about, or experiencing constant guilt and shame. These deep changes in mood and thinking are real, valid, and often invisible to others.

If you're feeling disconnected from yourself or others after trauma, you're not alone; healing is possible.

Motherhood is often a time of joy and fulfillment. Motherhood is often a time of joy and fulfillment. But for many women, it comes with anxiety, postpartum blues, postpartum depression, and overwhelming emotions. Working mothers, who are juggling their careers alongside their family responsibilities, often face additional challenges and pressures.

Mental health struggles are common and valid, whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a caregiver for aging parents, a working professional, or somewhere in between. Trying to balance employment and motherhood can be a burdensome and exhausting role. It is okay to need support!

Mothers should feel more understood and less alone. Mental health is a part of maternal health; it's time we treat it that way! Reaching out to loved ones or professionals (whether it is a therapist, psychologist, OB-GYN, or psychiatrist) is the best way to get the support you need to thrive for you and your family.

As we continue to reflect during Alcohol Awareness As we continue to reflect during Alcohol Awareness Month, it is important to acknowledge that it can be tricky to remember what counts as a standard drink or what the recommended limits are for each gender.

As an example, 12 oz of beer, 5 oz of wine, and 1.5 oz of liquor are equivalent when it comes to what counts as one standard drink.

Understanding your intake is more important than ever, especially with how widespread alcohol misuse has become and how it contributes to a number of preventable deaths each year.

Let’s use this month to stay informed, support those around us, and make more mindful choices.

Avoiding problems, procrastinating, or emotionally withdrawing might feel like relief but they often make things worse. For instance, using food to numb emotions or overworking to escape discomfort are signs of maladaptive coping. These methods can lead to ingrained behaviors that are hard to shake and lead to their own set of problems.

Awareness is the first step toward healthier responses. Incorporating positive strategies to manage stress can help and be incorporated over time.

Sleep struggles are a major but often overlooked c Sleep struggles are a major but often overlooked challenge for people with bipolar disorder. The American Psychiatric Association (APA) highlights a strong link between bipolar disorder and sleep disturbances. Manic episodes often involve a reduced need for sleep, while depressive episodes can lead to both insomnia and excessive sleeping.

Even in stable phases, many individuals continue to experience sleep disruptions, which can significantly impact daily life. Sleep problems often precede mood episodes and contribute to functional difficulties, making them an important area of focus for overall well-being.

Adopting good sleep habits, such as maintaining a consistent routine, reducing screen time, and seeking professional support can make a huge difference. Prioritizing your sleep means prioritizing your mental health and work-life balance.

Dr. Chatrath was selected to be a guest speaker fo Dr. Chatrath was selected to be a guest speaker for Sinclairity Consulting LLC's Men's Mental Health Breakfast last month. He had the opportunity to meet with leaders of the community that are providing mental health resources for San Antonio, while also sharing his expertise with attendees. He is hopeful that these conversations contribute to breaking down the stigma associated with men seeking help for mental health resources.

He also enjoyed learning about the work that his counterpart for the event, Rogelio "Roger" Narvaez Jr. LMSW, does on a daily basis.
Big thank you to Sinclair Ceasar III - Mental Health Speaker on his efforts and passion in organizing this much needed conversation.

Well done Dr. Chatrath!
